My year in review

2005 was an interesting year for me. I did a lot and experienced a lot. At the beginning of the year I was in my first year of college…met some new people, moved out of my parents house, etc. I fell in love; I fell out of love (Long story). I was extremely sick from November ‘04 to May ‘05. I had the worst room mate. But even when I look back on it, it was still a great year school year.

I became even closer with my best friend, became more independent. I became stronger, I think. After the school year ended, things just kept going. I hung out more with some people I met through someone and became really good friends with them. I met so many amazing people who made me feel wanted and accepted. They helped me come out of my shell a little more and helped me gain some self-esteem. The summer of 2005 was one of the best times I've ever had. It really helped me grow as a person.

I was dreading school in September because it meant the end of summer but it wasn’t so bad. I moved into a basement apartment with my best friend and 3 other girls. I think this school year I’ve opened up more and am more willing to go out and meet people.

The first weekend in October, along with 4 hometown friends, I went on a road trip to Timmins to visit a friend from high school. Since it was so far we only really had one day to spend with her but it was a great day. She showed us around her school and introduced us to all of her new friends which welcomed us with open arms. That night we partied around rez and when it came time depart, I started bawling. I knew I miss my friend, there was no doubt in my mind, but this trip made me realize just how much she meant to me. This I will never forget.

Since I turned 19 in October, I was able to go to the school pub, clubs, bars, etc. which opened up other possibilities. And on my 19th birthday, a good friend of mine threw me and another friend a joined birthday party. I’ve never had anyone throw me a birthday party before so I was really happy. When I arrived, the host of the party serenaded me with one of my favourite songs and I melted. Half of the people there I didn’t know because they were friend with the other guy, but they all wished me a happy birthday and it felt like I’ve known them for years.

Christmas break brought all of my hometown friends together. And on New Year’s Eve, despite the fact I was probably the only single person there, I only hoped that 2006 would bring me the same amount of joy.
